WORKBENCH 20 APRIL 2003

Well, it has been a rather busy few weeks here with various pieces or work needing my full attention. All of that has unfortunately had a drastic knock-on effect on my own projects which have had to take a back seat role for a while now. The bad news is that with just over a month to go until the UK Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournamant Final there is no way I will get the Space Wolves completed in time. Although I could technically get them finished, it would not be to a standard I would be satisfied with hence they have been held back until a future tournament, sorry. The positive side however is that it has given me more time to start work on the new forces for Epic Armageddon which will be launched towards the end of the year, so its not all bad. With that I give over the first update to Dave who amidst all the Chaos has managed to poke out a few Dark Eldar.

The Dark Eldar are part of Dave's Wych army that he started a while back and are hopefully destined to be finished for a future tournament. One of the more interesting approaches that Dave took was to use some of the excellent Dark Elf Witch models within the squads to add variety to the armour. Each has been converted to carry a range of Wych weapons and picked out in the strong green and bone colourscheme that characterises his army. Of particular note is the red face paint and 'bloody' hands that make a great contrast to the pale skin. Since dropping off these models to be photographed, Dave has completed a few more including the start of one of the Reaver Jetbike squads and Incubi which are all shaping up rather nicely.

With Epic Armageddon getting closer to release, I thought it about time to start work on some new Epic forces to mark the occassion. Whilst waiting for the new models to be produced, I decided to show how the previous Epic range could be used quite easilly to within under the new rules system. In other words you don't need to replace all your old models just bacause the rules have changed. Using the current Imperial Guard plastics and metal Chimera I have started work on a 'Steel Legion' Armoured Fist Company. The models shown are not quite finished yet and are still missing five Chimera which will be done this week. This is just the start of what I hope will become a sizeable force ready in time for the games launch. Watch this space. Until next time, happy gaming.

Regards
