SICON Military Intelligence Agents are rarely seen on the battlefield directly, but in extreme circumstances, or when the need is critical that their 'talents' are used directly they can be attached to Mobile Infantry platoons. Able to authorise the use of tactical nukes or fleet air strikes, SICON agents are a critical part of the Federations assets along with the ubiquitous MI. Skinny advisors are not always exactly welcomed by the MI squads they accompany, relationships with the Skinny Hegemony being described as neutral to hostile at best. nevertheless on occasions a Skinny can be found 'advising' and assisting the MI in their operations where the circumstances are beneficial to both parties.

The SICON Military Intelligence Agent is one of my favourite models from the 'Heroes of the Mobile Infantry' boxed set, it must be something about the great coat I like as the model reminds me very much of the Russian Commissariat from World War II.

The Military Intelligence Agents, or 'Talents'  in the film wore black and dark grey uniforms with black great coats, but I am not a fan of this colour scheme in the game as there is a danger they will end up looking like Warhammer 40,000 Commissars, which is not what I was aiming for.

Instead I decided to paint the model with a more muted palette of dark olive and beige which hopefully would blend it in better with my tan coloured Mobile Infantry Cap trooper platoon. I started with my usual black undercoat which I then gave a base colour for the cap and coat of a mix consisting of 2 parts black to one part khaki grey and 1 part olive green. By adding in increasing amounts of the khaki grey into the mix I layered up the highlights and folds of the coat before giving the entire model a wash of watered down black and brown ink with a drop of khaki grey. When applying an ink wash to clothing such as cloaks or tunics I always add a tiny drop of the base colour paint to the ink mix as the small concentration of pigment in the ink then stops the ink from reflecting light and leaves the model with a more matt finish rather than the satin sheen you get from pure ink, even when its watered down.

The Neo Dog was painted using almost exactly the same technique; a gradual layering of highlights by adding increasing amounts of desert yellow and beige to black before a watered down black ink wash mixed with flat earth. For the pads on the dogs paws and the highlights on the nose I simply used a 50/50 mix of black and bone. This was also used for the edge highlight on the officers cap.

For the Skinny 'Advisor' I first of all removed its constrictor rifle and replaced it with a Morita Assault rifle I had spare to make sure there was no mistaking it was an 'Advisor' for the Mobile Infantry and not just another Skinny Raider.

The suit colours for the skinnies I found challenging due to having few decent reference photographs to work from. Thumbing through what pictures there were in the rulebook I noticed that the skinnies clothing and armour was colourful, but also muted in contrast. I started by adding both turquoise and night blue to a black base, then adding increasing amounts of turquoise to the mix for the gradual highlights. This was then given an ink wash of black and blue ink before a final turquoise and lightning blue mix was used for the final edge highlights.

For the skin I started with a mix of shadow grey and elf flesh which I then gradually added camo green to for the colour shift on the forehead and around the eyes. In creasing amounts of elf flesh was added to highlight around the mouth before I used bone and white to pick out the small bones either side of the cheeks and the teeth.

For the intricate metal banding I started with a 50/50 mix of bronze and tarnished gold, which I highlighted with increasing amounts of bright gold and finally silver. A thin wash of brown ink then helped give the banding contrast against the rest of the suit. Finally, I picked out a few details on the chest and helmet in red and painted the eyes yellow with a black dot for the pupils.

Job done, two specialist agents for my Mobile Infantry ready for action.
